1/10/25-Friday-Day 35 “A Bittersweet Day”

We slept so good last night. It’s nice when your campsite comes with a white noise machine. The sound level was just perfect. This morning we woke up to dreary rainy skies but that’s ok. It’s been a perfect day to cozy up in the camper and watch movies. We did find out that our friends Josh, Darci and Hannah are planning to leave tomorrow. It’s left me feeling pretty sad but we knew their departure would be coming as they’re traveling the Pan-American Highway and we aren’t. Adam and I along with Mark and Michele have our entire winter to wander around Mexico. I’m grateful for the month we have had with them and can’t wait to hear about their future adventures.

We couldn’t spend our entire day inside so we threw on our rain gear and walked back into Agua Buena for an early dinner at La Villa again. This time I tried mole con pollo and it was delicious. Not only is the food good but so is the price. We’ve all been able to eat here on the cheap.

After dinner we all walked back to camp and got our chairs out since it stopped raining. I’m so glad it did so we could enjoy our last evening together. I was feeling emotional already and could no longer hold back my tears once a sweet doggo came into camp. She wanted attention so I gave her some pets but she then threw her paw up on me wanting more and I lost it. I felt so embarrassed for crying but she was pulling on my heart strings. Her poor eye is injured badly and she desperately needs a bath. I feel so bad for her.

It’s been a good day but I know tomorrow will be sad with our friends leaving. Hannah is four and holds a very special place in my heart. I’m not looking forward to saying goodbye, especially since we have no idea when we’ll see them again. I imagine it’s going to be at least a couple of years.
