1/11/25-Saturday-Day 36 “Saying Goodbye”

We were ready to get out of the camper this morning after our cozy day yesterday. It’s another cloudy day but at least it has stopped raining. Our friends Josh, Darci and Hannah left us this morning. It was sad saying goodbye. I tried my very best to hide my tears but I just couldn’t. It’s going to feel so different now without them.

We walked two miles south to Tamasopo to have lunch and walk around town. The server at the restaurant was very kind but we couldn’t understand anything he was saying at first. The language barrier is definitely a struggle but I’m grateful to be with Adam and our friends who speak better Spanish than me.

After lunch we walked around town. I know I mentioned it before but I love the culture and all the vibrant colors. It was a little strange seeing a dog eat what I’m pretty sure was intestines on the sidewalk while Adam was buying some corn tortillas. We also saw raw chickens hanging in an open market along with a bunch of blood that I almost stepped in. We definitely don’t see things like this in Ohio but that’s why we’re here. It was pretty busy walking around town and we soon made the two mile walk back to camp.

We let the doggos out to play and the sun came out when we reached camp so that was nice. We’ve started talking about our next move but I think we’ll be here for a few more days, especially since the weather’s going to continue improving. Adam and I walked around to see more of the area and met who we believe is the land owner here. He immediately offered us some scotch. We both said no and thanked him but he really wanted Adam to have a drink, practically refusing to take no for an answer. He’s a nice man. Adam had a good conversation with him while he sipped on his beverage and I walked around taking in the views followed by several ducks which I’m assuming are used to being fed.

This place is quite beautiful and I’m so happy to be here. I am wanting to get our rafts out on the water. Adam double checked to make sure we could and they said yes. They offer kayak rentals but having our packrafts, we aren’t interested in that. It’s been a great day with our friends and I’m looking forward to getting out on the water tomorrow.
