1/19/25-Sunday-Day 44 “Wiped Out”

Last night for me was spent back and forth between jackhammering through cold chills and feverishly sweating. I don’t know if I maybe ingested some water during my shower yesterday evening or if I’ve contracted a bug from some other unknown origin but my body is clearly trying to fight something off. Unfortunately today is a travel day. Although I know if I truly needed to stay put and rest the group would completely understand, I’m ready to move on. Eating a light breakfast helps and by the time the camper is packed and we hit the road I’m feeling like it might not be too bad driving today however I do ask Mark to take the lead.

With an added stop in Ciudad Valles for groceries we’ve got about 3 hours or so on the road today and by the time we reach camp I’m pretty much at the point of exhaustion. I realize now that I probably had no business in driving today as it was just difficult to stay focused and that is a recipe for disaster in Mexico, thankfully we were mostly on rural highways and the drive was pretty chill at least by Mexico standards.

It’s raining when we pull into yet another backyard to camp and as we drive down the grass covered hill to the site I wonder what it will be like trying drive out in the morning, though those thoughts quickly recede to the back of my mind as I climb in the bed soon after setting up the camper.

Annie is always ready to get back in the camper but especially so when it's raining!
