1/9/25-Thursday-Day 34 “Paradise Found”

1/9/25-Thursday-Day 34 “Paradise Found”

Thank goodness we slept last night. It was nothing like I thought it’d be. It got very quiet shortly after getting into bed. We wasted no time in packing up this morning to get back on the road. I think we all left feeling pretty excited knowing where we were headed on this shorter drive. The dreary skies disappeared and the sun came out. Soon after, everything was green and beautiful. This is exactly what we’ve needed and we arrived in a new state today. San Luis Potosí is absolutely beautiful.

San Luis Potosi is the first place that has felt at least somewhat jungle like for us in Mexico

We stopped in the cute town of Tamasopo for water, it was here that we saw our very first freight train in Mexico. I always enjoy going through towns in Mexico. I love all the vibrant colors and the culture. The people often seem so happy. However, I know driving through these towns can be stressful for Adam as the streets are often narrow and steep, plus there’s usually people and dogs walking all over.

After finding a side street with enough parking for our three rigs we all walked into Agua Buena and had a yummy lunch at La Villa Restaurant. I enjoyed my food but I already miss flour tortillas. They are becoming less and less common the further south we get, replaced instead by corn. We had some cute visitors sit with us during lunch. I want to give them all my food but I know that’s frowned upon.

I had the enchiladas huastecas con cecina and it was quite delicious!

We found camp after lunch and enjoyed the rest of our day. It’s been pretty overcast but we don’t care, we’re just happy to be at this beautiful spot. I feel like we’re in paradise. We’ve never camped right next to waterfalls before and the color of the water here is insanely beautiful. This place feels like somewhere we could stay for a while. We are beyond ready to slow down and this place is nice.
