12/13/24-Friday-Day 7 “Tortillas and a View”

We’ve decided to stay one more day here at Paraiso Missional although it is so peaceful we could easily spend a week simply lounging beneath the shade of the palms. After our morning meal of chilaquiles con huevos and with a positive report on the local produce from Mark and Michele we make the walk into town along with Josh, Darci and Hannah for some groceries and a trip to the local tortilleria. Heather and I have both been looking forward to fresh Mexican tortillas and these were hot off the press!

Once back at camp Josh, Mark and I decided to hike to the top of the mesa that overlooks the town of San Ignacio and which the campground is situated against. At the top we went for a short run before enjoying the view from atop an old water tower looking down on the old Spanish mission in town.

We returned to camp and discussed our plans for tomorrow, deciding that we should probably be on the road a bit early (9:30 being early for this group!) tomorrow in order to allow for the 2+ hour drive, an anticipated lunch stop, and arriving to camp before the evening hours.
