12/14/24-Saturday-Day 8 “Fuego Tropical!”

12/14/24-Saturday-Day 8 “Fuego Tropical!”

Hoping to get on the road early we broke camp just after breakfast and were pulling out of the campground somewhere around 10am. We had to make a stop in town first for some last minute groceries, water, and a resupply of fresh tortillas as we had already eaten the pack bought just yesterday between snacking and breakfast, they were that good!

Just a couple of hours drive south east of San Ignacio is the small town of Mulege. Mulege has some of the narrowest streets of any town that we drove through in all of our time in Mexico last winter so I was not the least bit upset when we bypassed the town proper and continued south to our very anticipated lunch stop at Mulege Brewing Co. just a few miles down the highway. The beers here are quite delicious but honestly for us the pizza is the major draw, specifically the Fuego Tropical! Topped with candied and grilled pineapple, jalapeños, and pepperoni it’s a sweet and spicy delight that we have talked about and looked forward to since we last stopped here nearly a year ago. I also had their Eclipse Stout and it was certainly dark enough to block out the sun!

After lunch we had a short half hour drive to our chosen beach for the night, Playa el Requeson. Tucked behind a small island on the Bahia de Concepcion, Playa el Requeson is a very well known tourist spot and for good reason. It is gorgeous! Unfortunately the wind was in full force and even huddled behind our trucks we could hardly find relief in the afternoon hours. Thankfully as the sun went down so did the wind and by evening all that remained was a comfortable breeze accompanied by a nearly full moon.
