12/29/24-Sunday-Day 23 “Back to La Paz”

12/29/24-Sunday-Day 23 “Back to La Paz”

In the morning Josh and Darci are the first to get packed up and they depart camp about an hour ahead of us. We don’t have a great amount of distance to cover today however the steep narrow shelf road on which we are camped takes some time to traverse as we wind to and from, up and over, and in and out of the valleys that follow along the coastline to the north. Eventually we turn from the sea and head inland. After an hour and a half or so we reach the end of the dirt track and after airing our tires back up we continue on pavement towards La Paz.

Not a whole lot of opportunities for passing on these shelf roads
Hard to see without zooming in but this guy is bikepacking the entire Pan-am highway!

When we reach town we split up to run some errands, Mark needing some supplies from Home Depot and myself needing to find an auto parts store in search of a can of refrigerant as our a/c system in the truck is still acting up. We meet back up for what will likely be our last Baja fish tacos and after lunch make the short drive to rejoin Josh and Darci at Campestre Maranatha where they are clearly taking advantage of the campgrounds pool!

Tacos de camarones with ALL the fixins!

Like our stay at this campground before, this one is about chores not relaxation. While Heather gets started loading washers with our laundry I decide to give Wanda a much needed bath, a near wasted effort as the hard water leaves spots so bad it looks as though I didn’t even rinse the soap off but the layers of dust have been knocked down a bit and I do manage to get the windows cleaned at least.
