12/31/24-Tuesday-Day 25 “An Evening of Reflection”

With one last day left to enjoy Baja we are thankful to be sitting still and the morning is spent fixated on the sea in front of us. We watch pelicans diving, rays jumping and the water surface boiling from scurrying bait fish. While Heather cleans up from breakfast I take a stroll down the road soaking up the little bit of time we have left here, appreciating the desert behind us just as much as the sea in front.

As we sit watching the surf in the evening Michele asks what everyone’s favorite memory of the year has been and it’s quite hard for us to narrow it down to a single moment or even place. This past year has been filled with so many experiences for the both of us, good and bad. Starting and now ending the year in Mexico is certainly high on the good list. Our truck breaking down in Oregon to the tune of $6,000+ ranks at the top of the bad, though even through that we are able to find some positive light in the way that things worked out. Floating Lake Crescent in our packrafts on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula is a favorite of both of ours. Our experience working at La Wis Wis campground this summer while not all bad certainly had its low points though we are absolutely thankful for the experience and the lessons we have learned from it. We are also both very fond of our time at the sugar beet harvest and the friends that we made there.

This past year has certainly had its highs and lows and we are curious to see what new adventures await us in the coming year! We are grateful to have each of you here with us and cannot wait to share more of our journey with you! Thank you all for being here!
